"Cosmic Lesson" is a project for teachers of grades 4-8 who firmly say NO to school boredom!

The project will benefit 120 teachers from across Poland. 20% of the spots are reserved for teachers from the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie regions, and 10% for teachers of Ukrainian origin, regardless of their place of residence in Poland.

About the Project

“#Cosmic Lesson” with Scratch brings a breath of fresh air to teaching children in grades 4-8 in Poland. School lessons don’t have to be boring! On the contrary, there are tools that turn lessons into an exciting adventure. Children familiar with new technologies absorb knowledge much better using Computer Science (CS) than relying solely on textbook knowledge. Using the free Scratch program, we will show you how to conduct lessons or assign projects in an attractive and engaging way for children.

Teaching Approach

How do we work so that children want to participate in our classes? How do we give them the wind in their sails instead of anchoring them to school desks? The answer is simple – by using Computer Science (in this project, it’s Scratch) in everyday classroom activities.

Project Mission

We dedicate this project to teachers who believe that education can have a fantastic face, providing satisfaction to the teacher and joy to the students.

Benefits

Open yourself to CS in teaching – gain the sympathy of children and the respect of parents. Workshops will be held in October. Upon completing our project, you will receive a certificate of participation.

Workshop Dates

Choose one of the four available weekends (Sat-Sun, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM):

  • October 7-8
  • October 14-15
  • October 21-22
  • October 28-29

We invite teachers who want their lessons to be attractive and engaging for students to join the project

Addressing Barriers

The lack of support for computer science teachers directly impacts girls’ engagement in learning computer science. As many as 34% believe that access to more educational resources would increase their confidence in their ability to learn. These insights are highlighted in Google’s latest report, “Why Girls in Poland Aren’t Choosing Computer Science?”. By implementing the “Cosmic Lesson” project, we address these barriers. We support teachers to feel more confident in the world of new technologies and, in turn, help build the confidence of their students in school.

“Cosmic Lesson” Offers:

  • Diversification and enhancement of your lessons in the eyes of students and parents
  • Making your daily work with children easier through Scratch
  • The ability to teach through play (using CS)
  • Impressing students with your knowledge of new technologies and your willingness to use them
  • The convenience of online learning

NOTE: We teach Scratch from the basics (from creating an account and basic commands) to independent projects. We expect your active participation and creativity in creating projects.
