Become a Girls Code Fun Mentor in the STEAM Academy Project – Showcase the Power of Women in New Technologies!

Once again, we are delighted to invite you to take on the role of mentor in a highly regarded and recognized educational initiative – STEAM Academy, 4th Edition. This is a developmental program aimed at building digital skills and showcasing the world of technology through the eyes of passionate individuals. It’s an online program designed for teenage girls. From October to December, the mentees of STEAM Academy completed 60 hours covering the basics of front-end and back-end development, soft skills, UX&UI, and SQL. Now, they’re looking for a compassionate female mentor who can guide them through mentoring, share her story in the tech industry, and provide support in areas important to the mentee.

Do you feel the call to mentor? Do you believe you can be a guide for someone and are eager to try this role? Do you have time for a few meetings with a teenage mentee? Do you want to empower her just as someone once empowered you? Or perhaps no one did, and that’s why you’re ready to give back to the younger generation? Fulfill your potential in this project.

Learn more about the journey the mentees have taken and the STEAM Academy 4th Edition project HERE. You’ll also find details about your future role below and in the application form. You probably already know this, but let it resonate – mentoring is a two-way growth process and is highly valued in professional circles.

If you:

  • work or study in fields related to IT or broadly understood new technologies (programming, cybersecurity, data science, IT project management, UX&UI, digital marketing, AI, etc.)
  • have a knack for explaining things clearly and simply
  • know how to inspire a positive attitude towards action
  • want to share your experience and passion
  • are a good listener
  • can dedicate time to pro bono meetings with a mentee
  • want to show that the world of new technologies is welcoming and open to women…

…then become a mentor in our project.

What is your time commitment as a mentor?

It depends. The maximum commitment is 10 hours of availability. Some mentees prefer 4-hour sessions, while others may need up to 10 hours (you’ll find details in each mentee’s description). This flexibility allows you to align mentoring with your schedule. Mentoring can be completed in 2 months or stretched to 4 months. You and your mentee will decide the dates, duration, and format of the meetings to ensure convenience and comfort. The key is that the mentee feels they have regular support.

When does mentoring take place?

From January to April 2025 at the latest. The agreed number of hours can be divided as you prefer (e.g., starting in late January and finishing in March – it’s up to you). However, all sessions should be completed by April (preferably mid-April) 2025.

Will I receive materials to work with my mentee?

As a specialist and enthusiast, you’ll select materials and topics based on your discussions with your mentee. You’ll inspire her with what has inspired you and explore the questions and areas she wants to dive deeper into, fostering mutual learning and growth.

WHO IS A MENTEE?

A teenager aged 14-18 who participates in the project voluntarily during their free time.
Every mentee is unique, with their own story and individual needs. By joining the project, you understand that you’ll be working with a young person exploring the world of new technologies, helping to strengthen and inspire them. You’ll meet on equal terms, showcasing through your example that new technologies are for women, giving her confidence, and helping her discover her strengths.Below, you’ll find a list of mentees from the 4th Edition who are eager to grow. They have specified their areas of support, prioritizing their preferences from top to secondary ones. They’ve also provided their BIO, preferred collaboration format (sometimes they may prefer group meetings rather than 1:1), and the time they’d like to dedicate to sessions. You can choose one or multiple mentees. After reviewing their BIOs and preferences, submit the form and indicate whom you’d like to support and how you’ll dedicate your time to them.We believe mentoring is the best way to explore the world – it offers mutual benefits and broadens horizons.

I choose a mentee

We are accepting mentor applications for the project until December 22. Official results will be announced by December 28. Please note that the application period may be shortened.
