Workshop Description
R for BIO Research – data analysis in the biological sciences.
#BIOstatistics, #BIOinformatics
This workshop is a hands‑on introduction to working with biological data in R-a tool that has become the standard for data analysis in modern scientific research and is widely used in publications and research projects.
You’ll learn the basics of R step by step and practice working with biological datasets: from loading and cleaning data, through essential statistical analyses, to creating clear and informative visualizations. R brings analysis, statistics, and plotting together in one environment, making your workflow transparent and reproducible.
We focus strongly on understanding and interpreting results in a biological context – not just performing calculations. This skill is essential in research, thesis work, and scientific publications.
The workshop is fully practical and based on real datasets. We work in a cloud environment, so you can start immediately without installing software. No programming experience is required – we teach everything from scratch.
This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to build strong foundations in data analysis, learn a tool widely used in science, and feel more confident working with biological data at any stage of academic development.
Who is it for?
R for BIO Research is designed for:
- students in biotechnology, biology, bioinformatics, economics, and related fields
- PhD candidates who want to strengthen or organize their data analysis skills
- people working on research projects or bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral theses involving biological data
- beginners who have never programmed or analyzed data before
- anyone who wants to better understand statistics used in biological research and interpret results correctly
- all individuals interested in modern approaches to biological data analysis, regardless of gender
- anyone motivated and ready to learn– although priority is given to participants who meet the criteria above, it’s always worth applying.
👉 Note: This workshop is intended for people who do not know R. If a group with basic R knowledge forms, we will adapt accordingly.
What will you gain?
By participating in the Girls Code Fun workshop R for BIO Research, you will:
- build solid foundations in biological data analysis
- feel more confident working with data and statistics

This project is free of charge.
We will run three online groups, each offering 4 hours of learning. Recruitment is conducted through the application form on this page. Three dates are available – the more dates you select, the higher your chance of qualifying. If only one date works for you, simply select that one.
Dates:
Group 1:
14.02.2026 (Saturday), 9:30–13:30 (1/1)
Group 2:
16.02.2026 (Monday), 18:00–20:00 (1/2)
17.02.2026 (Tuesday), 18:00–20:00 (2/2)
Group 3:
23.02.2026 (Monday), 18:00–20:00 (1/2)
24.02.2026 (Tuesday), 18:00–20:00 (2/2)
Location: online (sessions are not recorded).
Qualified participants will receive an email from info@girlscodefun.pl. Add this address to your safe list and check spam/promotions folders. After receiving a positive decision, you will be asked to confirm your participation.
Important: Apply only if you are sure you want to participate and are available. This is not a webinar-it is a full, high‑quality workshop where attendance is required. Participants who confirm but do not attend will not be eligible for future projects.
As a foundation, we provide high‑quality workshops and an experienced instructor. Please respect the non‑profit nature of the project 🙂.
Requirements
- genuine interest in participating
- signing up = readiness to attend
- communication aligned with NVC principles
- respect for the project’s free‑of‑charge nature
- responsible approach (no last‑minute cancellations after confirmation)
- no prior knowledge of R
