The fifth edition of STEAM Academy is ongoing. It is a program that combines technological education with inspiring mentoring by women from the IT industry. If you want to pass on the knowledge you once needed yourself – join us as a mentor at Girls Code Fun!

STEAM Academy is a recognizable, nationwide project of the Girls Code Fun Foundation. Within a few months, participants go through an intensive learning cycle. They learn front-end, back-end, SQL, UX&UI, soft skills. And after completing the technological part comes the moment when they need the support of a woman with experience. A mentor who will help them set and achieve goals, plan their further educational and professional path.

Read more about the path the mentees have gone through and about the STEAM Academy 5th edition HERE, and about your future role below. Mentoring develops both sides and is valued in the professional environment.

Mentor’s qualities

If you:

  • work/study daily in IT/new technologies broadly understood (programming, cybersecurity, data science, IT project management, UX&UI, internet marketing, AI etc.)
  • have the soul of a mentor
  • have passing on knowledge simply and understandably in your blood
  • can infect with positive attitude towards action
  • want to share experience and passion
  • can listen, communicate in NVC
  • have time for pro bono meetings with a mentee (between 1 and 10 hours total in the project)
  • want to show that the world of new technologies is friendly and open to women…

…become a mentor in our project.

How does mentoring look in the project?

Mentoring lasts from January to April 2026 and takes place online – so you can conduct meetings from anywhere in the world. Each mentor-mentee pair independently sets dates, frequency, and length of meetings. Usually it is from 4 to 10 hours of conversations in the whole project, in which the mentee can count on your support and inspiration.

As a specialist and enthusiast you choose materials and topics based on the conversation with the mentee. You inspire with what has already inspired you, and you also search for information the mentee asks about and you deepen knowledge together.

Who is your mentee?

She is a teenager aged 14-19, participant of the STEAM Academy program, who has completed the technological part of the course and wants to develop further. She wants to organize her goals, understand which competences are worth strengthening, learn the realities of working in IT, sometimes also create her own project, write a website. Each mentee has her own story and needs – your role is to help her discover her own potential and believe that the place of women is also in the world of technology.

Below you will find the list of mentees of the 5th edition. They have defined the area of support from their TOP – to the next preferences. They also left their BIO, form of cooperation (sometimes they can meet in a larger group than 1:1), defined the time they want to devote to meetings. You can choose one or several mentees. After reading the BIO and preferences of the mentees, apply and indicate in the form whom you will support and to whom you will devote your time.

Why is it worth becoming a mentor in STEAM Academy?

  • Because you really influence the educational and professional choices of young women.
  • Because you meet technology enthusiasts who may follow in your footsteps.
  • Because Girls Code Fun has for years been building a community of women supporting each other in the IT industry.

Because mentoring develops both sides – mentee and mentor.

Previous editions have shown that mentoring works – graduates of STEAM Academy today study computer science and new technologies, and some of them are already doing internships e.g. at Google, Motorola, and smaller software houses. Some happily develop in cybersecurity, some in UX. Where will your mentee go? You will find out soon!

If you feel that mentoring is something for you – fill in the application form and choose the mentee you want to cooperate with. Your time and experience may mean more to her than you think.
