Estera Walska
UX & UI Designer, psychologist (Warsaw, Mazowieckie Voivodeship)
I’m Estera, a psychology graduate from SWPS and a UX/UI designer with over 2 years of experience. It was 2 years ago that I came across a UX course and I was lost – I found an occupation that I really enjoy and I can’t imagine doing anything other than UX. I love to interweave the knowledge I gained from my studies with my work – even in an IT environment there is room to use psychological knowledge. In my free time I travel, usually to the Iberian Peninsula, where I develop my passion for surfing and photography.
What prompted you to take part in the Girls Code Fun Foundation project?
Definitely the desire to develop interpersonal skills, but also professional skills. Development has been and continues to be my ticket to achieving the goals I set for myself.
What are you currently doing professionally and what do you want to do ultimately?
I am a UX/UI designer with over 2 years of experience. I am currently on the lookout for a new job in the IT industry, as I want to continue to grow and expand my professional horizons. The experience already gained is invaluable in taking the next steps. I do so with greater confidence in myself and my competence.
If you want to change your life, then start today and be consistent about it
How has the project affected your personal, professional life?
A resume consisting of so many projects, especially those related to the IT industry, certainly contributed to my first job as a UX Designer/Researcher, and with design and commercial experience, it is now easier for me to believe that I will overcome the process of looking for a new job.
Did the project help you decide to continue your education or work in IT?
The experience of participating in projects has definitely made me even more aware that working in IT is something I want to do 🙂
Are you more confident in your IT and technology skills now?
I definitely believe more in myself and my skills, but I’m open to more opportunities for development through courses. They open one’s thinking to new, to unknown directions.
What would you like to achieve in the coming year?
I want to find a new place to work, develop my portfolio with several additional projects, and continually develop existing and new skills. I want this year to be a year of growth for me.
