What prompted you to take part in the Girls Code Fun Foundation project?
In the first program curiosity, when I saw how valuable these activities were, I went into them almost blind 🙂
What motivated you to continue participating in the project? What were the challenges you had to overcome while participating?
The biggest motivation was knowing how much I could learn with the support of experts. Meetings and workshops were a huge source of inspiration for me, and this motivated me to look wider and take even greater action. The hardest part was combining these activities with my studies, work and personal life, but seeing the benefits I could bring, I always managed to reconcile everything.
Make mistakes and ask questions that will lead you down new paths
What skills or knowledge did you gain during the program?
Skills in team management, effective communication. I developed technical competence, but also broadened my perspectives. I’m still working on everything, because learning is a never-ending adventure, but I’m very happy that I took my first steps in some places with the Girls Code Fun Foundation.
What surprised you the most while participating in the project?
Support! Both on technical and motivational issues. How you can quickly build valuable relationships with other participants and mentors.
What do you consider to be your greatest success in connection with your participation? What benefits has participation in the program given you – now and for the future?
My greatest success is that today I am the one who can share my knowledge as a mentor in the STEAM Academy program. Participation in the project has given me not only new skills and self-confidence, but most of all the awareness of the importance of supporting others in their development. Thanks to it, I have the opportunity not only to realize myself professionally, but to inspire young talented girls and co-create a community that has a real impact on the environment. At first I was the one who benefited from the programs, and today I have the opportunity to share mentorship myself.
What advice would you give to other girls who are considering taking part in Girls Code Fun Foundation projects?
Try and trust the process. Projects like these – organized by the Girls Code Fun hub – are a great opportunity to learn new skills, explore role models, and get exposed to a variety of technologies. Make mistakes and ask questions, they will guide you to explore new paths.
