About the project
STEAM Academy is a project through which we develop digital skills among teenage girls. Over the course of 4 editions, 200 participants have already gained technological competencies. Graduates have chosen computer science studies and are doing internships at companies such as Motorola and Google.
See the participants’ success stories!
🤚 Only about 20% of IT professionals are women, and among those choosing digital fields, their share is still far too low. Meanwhile, the job market is constantly evolving, and many of the professions today’s teenage girls will work in do not yet exist. Knowledge of new technologies is a passport to the future.
STEAM Academy shows that girls thrive in the world of technology – we break down stereotypes and create a space for learning and action. The program is completely free of charge.
We teach both independent work and teamwork. We support the exchange of experiences and encourage proactivity. Our approach is different from traditional school methods. During the workshop sessions, participants are divided into 4 groups of 10, ensuring that learning and collaboration are as effective as possible.
To make it more fun, sign up with a friend 👭 Show your Digital Girl Power together! P.S. You can also apply on your own 😉
For whom?
The project is intensive, demanding, and aimed at those who are ready to devote their time and energy to learning. We are looking for determined candidates who know they won’t give up after the first weekend. ☺️ Candidates who want to challenge themselves in the world of IT and STEAM, and who are aware that education and the job market are being built around technology in the broadest sense. Completing STEAM Academy brings both satisfaction and preparation for further exploration of the IT world!
Are you motivated? Do you want to expand your digital skills? Do you want to enter the world of technology and discover your potential? Do you know that the most stable education path is in the technology sector? Do you want to break the stereotypes about women in TECH?
The project is for teenage girls (ages 14–19) from Warsaw (we also accept applications from all over Poland!) who:
- want to learn the basics of coding, UX, UI, SQL, etc. during live workshops
- wish to get a closer look at the IT world and strengthen their digital skills
- want to discover their strengths through mentoring and soft skills workshops
- are ready for an intensive program and won’t give up after the first weekend
- are open and kind to others, and communicate using NVC (nonviolent communication).
What will you learn?
- Basics of front-end and back-end development
- Principles of interface design (User Interface)
- Principles of user experience design (User Experience)
- Basics of working with databases (SQL)
- Your strengths during the part dedicated to soft skills, which are very important in the world of technology
- Ways to search for a field of study, internship, or first job
- Creating and presenting IT projects from idea to implementation (with a planned website presentation at the final meeting)
In the project, we teach from scratch, so no prior knowledge is required. However, if you already know the basics and want to review the material and organize your knowledge, you are also welcome to apply.
Most STEAM Academy graduates have chosen computer science programs for their studies. They have fallen in love with technology and are successfully developing their passions and digital skills! Join them!
100% of graduates appreciate our non-school approach to sharing knowledge and our supportive attitude. Check out the success stories of participants from previous editions, as their feedback is a testament to our work and the quality of the project: SUCCESS STORIES III edycja and SUCCESS STORIES II edycja. What is mentoring?
In STEAM Academy, mentoring consists of up to 10 hours in total, spread between January and April. That’s the amount of mentor availability we guarantee. However, you can choose to use 3 hours, 7 hours, or the full 10 hours. You can finish your mentoring journey as early as February or continue until the end of April. We leave a lot of flexibility for you to decide. More details will be shared closer to December. And what exactly is mentoring? You’ll find out below.
Mentoring is a series of meetings with an experienced person who shares their knowledge and expertise, supports your growth, and helps you discover your strengths. It is a safe relationship built on trust and respect, where you can ask any question without fear of judgment. Mentoring is a two-way process – you learn from your mentor, but she can also find inspiration in you.
Thanks to mentoring, it will be easier for you to find motivation, discover new opportunities, and feel that someone truly believes in your potential. It’s a unique chance to grow faster and with more confidence. The relationship is like having a supportive older sister – someone you can ask about things you might not feel comfortable asking a teacher or parent, because they don’t have the same experience in technology or in choosing a career path in such a rapidly changing world.
During mentoring, you can learn from an experienced woman who once started out just like you as a STEAM Academy participant. At the beginning of your mentoring sessions, you and your mentor will set goals and a schedule together. What do you want to achieve, what do you want to learn, what would you like to explore, or maybe even create? Perhaps you want to understand the structure of employment in IT, prepare a CV, or make more informed decisions about your further education. This is your time, and you will gain access to it in the 3rd phase of the project.
