Become a mentor at Girls Code Fun in the STEAM Academy project – showcase the power of women in new technologies!

Once again, with great pleasure, we invite you to take on the role of a mentor in the esteemed and well-recognized educational initiative – STEAM Academy, 4th edition.

See the participants’ success stories!

This is a developmental online program designed for teenage girls, helping them build digital skills and explore the world of technology through the eyes of passionate women. From October to December, the STEAM Academy mentees completed 60 hours of foundational learning in front-end, back-end, soft skills, UX&UI, and SQL. Now, they are looking for a supportive female mentor who will share her industry journey and guide them in areas that matter most to them.

Do you feel the call to mentor? Do you believe you can be a guiding light for someone and want to explore this role? Do you have space for a few meetings with a teenage mentee? Would you like to empower a young girl just as someone once empowered you? Or perhaps no one did, and that’s why you want to give back to the next generation?

If so, this project is for you! You can read more about the journey the mentees have taken and STEAM Academy IV edition HERE, as well as learn about your future role below and in the application form. You probably already know this, but let’s say it out loud – mentoring is a two-way development process and is highly valued in the professional world.

Expectations for the mentor

If you:

  • You work or study in the field of IT or broadly understood new technologies (such as programming, cybersecurity, data science, IT project management, UX&UI, digital marketing, AI, etc.) on a daily basis.
  • Sharing knowledge in a clear and understandable way comes naturally to you.
  • You inspire others with a positive attitude and drive for action.
  • You want to share your experience and passion.
  • You are a good listener.
  • You have time for pro bono meetings with a mentee.
  • You want to show that the world of new technologies is welcoming and open to women…

… become a mentor in our project!

Mentoring time – when and how long does it last?

It depends. The maximum support time is 10 hours of availability. Some mentees prefer 4 hours of meetings, while others opt for 10 hours (you’ll find the specific time preference in each mentee’s description). This allows you to flexibly adjust your schedule.

You can complete the mentoring process in 2 months or extend it to 4 months. The dates, duration, and format of the meetings are arranged directly with your mentee. The key is to find a setup that works best for both of you ?. What matters most is that the mentee feels she has regular support.

All participants will receive a certificate (confirming their participation in the project, including subjects and hours), which will certainly help them stand out in the educational and professional market.

As a specialist and enthusiast, you choose the materials and topics based on conversations with your mentee. You share what has inspired you while also researching information the mentee is curious about, allowing you both to deepen your knowledge together.

Who is your mentee?

She is a 14-18-year-old teenager who participates in the project voluntarily and in her free time. Each mentee is unique, with her own story and different needs. By joining the project, you acknowledge that you are receiving a young, curious mind exploring the world of new technologies—a mind ready to be empowered. Your meetings are based on partnership, and through your presence, you demonstrate that new technologies are for women. You give her the confidence to move forward, help her discover her strengths, and support her growth.

Below, you’ll find a list of mentees from the 4th edition who are eager to develop their skills. They have defined their areas of interest, ranking them from their top priority to secondary preferences. They have also provided a bio, their preferred collaboration format (some may prefer group meetings rather than one-on-one), and the time they are willing to dedicate to mentoring sessions.

You can choose one or multiple mentees. After reviewing their bios and preferences, sign up and indicate in the application form whom you would like to support and how you would like to dedicate your time. We believe that mentoring is the best way to explore the world—it brings mutual benefits and broadens horizons for both mentors and mentees.
